Redefining “College Football”

On November 6, 1869, New Jersey (Rutgers) defeated Princeton (6–4) in the first College Football game ever played. Over 150 years of history and tradition have culminated into the uniquely cherished institution that we still love today.

Despite countless generations of gridiron excellence, though, “College Football” remains a term without universal meaning. The term is often used to describe singular classifications, such as the Football Bowl Subdivision, Division I, or NCAA, but rarely the entire landscape.

So... What Is College Football?

“College Football is the ultimate celebration of nearly 900 teams across the country, ranging in classification and organizational affiliation.”

We provide a platform for every single one of these teams and their history, traditions, and fans. Regardless of classification, every team and every fan has a home here.

What We Do

The College Football Commission was founded to address the universality of the College Football celebration. Originally with apparel and now through media, our organization provides fans information about the many teams, organizations, games, entities, and stories that encompass the sport’s vast landscape.

How We Do It

Our organization takes a hands-on, detail-oriented approach to everything we do. Examples of this include:

  • Each game on our schedule is created and managed by a member of our team prior to kickoff, while live, and after the final whistle.
  • Information on each team and organization’s relevant pages is carefully reviewed and updated throughout the year.
  • Our articles and explainers are thoroughly researched and cited so fans have the full context of each story and entity mentioned.

Whether it’s verifying each team’s colors and mascots, identifying the most reliable broadcasting options for every game, or including pertinent citations with our content, we are relentless in our pursuit of giving fans the most accurate and accessible information.

Finally, and most importantly, honesty and transparency are not just values we uphold—they are the foundation of everything we do. These principles are at the heart of our organization, guiding every action and decision we make while fostering trust, integrity, and goodwill—virtues that point to a greater purpose in all we do.

Our Why

College Football Is A Force For Good.

College Football is so much more than a 60-minute game on an autumn day; it is the lifeblood of local communities, the heartbeat of campuses, and a simple pleasure in a complicated world.

This one-of-a-kind celebration brings people of every creed and background together, creating lifelong memories that transcend generations and providing opportunities for student-athletes to grow and develop as individuals. At its core, College Football is built on a spirit of charity where goodwill is shared, and communities unite to support something greater than themselves.
